Is anybody here who works as translator for foreign companies? How do they organize the process, I mean testing the correctness of the translated texts, completeness of information and way of money transfer?
Esmeralda
Look in a board of announcements.... There a lot of work offer... In this occasion.

You mean working as emplyee or occasionally? I have to do translations sometimes... and nobody checks it.... it just works the way it is...

It depends on a company you apply for. If you are accepted, you sign up a contract where everything is specified: the subject-matter you deal with, terms of the work to be carried out, the sum and terms of payment. Your proficiency level may be estimated by a native speaker, an expert in this or that field you deal with. It is from my own ten-year experience of working for foreign companies doing various kinds of translation - written and oral: synchronous and consecutive. The main thing is to have a pretty good idea of what you deal or going to deal with and, surely, your high-flown instruction level. One should have a broad outlook and a bit of life experience. Things will clear out as soon as you get started. Just do it!

Hello, Dmitry. Last time I left a message answering Esmeralda to a question on working as an interpreter for a foreign company. I know I am late. I tried to contact you on the phone number you indicated, but a man said you had left and would come back the following week. Unfortunately, I haven't addressed the Forum for a long time. Maybe it is a good reason to get acquainted because, I think, we have a common ground - it's English. My working phone number is 30-44-14. It's Editorial and Publishers Department in Academgorodok.
P. S.: Last time I was an anonymous Forum user.
Best wishes,
Alexander.
Hello, KIWI. I currently do not give English lessons, but I have been working as an English teacher at the NSU delivering lectures in Lexicology and English school for 10 years. Now I do not feel like giving any lessons, but I could recommend you the Inotext language centre where experienced teachers from the Novosibirsk Pedagogical University work. They were and are the best English teachers in the city now. That's a piece of advice of the professional for you.
Success attend you.
Yours,
Prince Alec (Alexander).

Hi, Alexander.
Would you be so kind as to write me (in a private way) what Editorial and Publishers Department you work at ? The point is that I also work a Russian-English translator and an editor in the Editorial Department of the Publishing House of SB RAS in Academy town (my experience of work is 9 years). In addition, I collaborate with one more alike Department (also in Academy town). I deal mainly with scientific journals (namely, English versions of Russian journals issued for the USA).
So, could you describe me in brief the field of your translations? Maybe we have much in common in our business?! In such an event, we might exchange with experience (in the future).
If you don't mind, welcome to my private mail box! :-)

Hi,
To be more exact, it is the Editorial and Publ. Dept of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics. Phone number 30-44-14. I specialise in plant biology, bee-keeping, law education, art, etc. I like to dubb films. I have my international PL in synchronous translation and mean to make my PhD in the English Philology soon. So, now I study the Modern Language of Scientific Prose trying to kill two birds with one stone. You are free to call me any time 11 a.m - 6 p.m. It is always interesting to meet people of the same workshop.
Yours, Alexander.
P.S.:I also have my Internet address: zuravlev@ngs.ru
Alexander, is your e-mail right?
Yesterday I sent you a letter with some questions concerning your professional skill but haven't received an answer yet.

Hi, folks!
Is there any job for interpreter/translator here in Novosibirsk. I got some experience in oral and written translations for a foreign company and for different people.
I'd really appreciate your help :live:
Alessandro
Gee, what a weird forum! Nothing to chat about in Russian, or is it some kind of a vague statement?
Sana
Да, если это еще возможно, т.к. много времени уже прошло.
