Dear All! Could you help me with X'mas and NY greeting for business partner?
I guess there are many traditional phrases in this matter, but I've never dealt with them

To start with, there's no such thing as Christmas and New Year anymore, thanks to our extremely politically correct society. Some people thought that this was an offense to Jews, who celebrate Hanuka at the same time, and Blacks, who supposedly may celebrate Kwanzaa, whatever this is. So, to make long story short, it is 'Season's Greetings' nowadays, and corporations invite people to the 'Holiday parties'. Sad but true.
This is just a load of crap - Christmas still exists and "Merry Christmas" is still ok; New Year does not even have any religious/political connotations so "Happy New Year" is totally kosher too.
This is just a load of crapEasy does it, fella. I know it still exists in people's private life; however, corporate America/Canada does not use this greeting anymore. I work for a large enough company here in the US; our New Year's party invitations say 'Holiday party', and car dealerships display large 'Season's Greetings!' signs by the road. And don't tell Jews that 'New Year does not even have any religious/political connotations', because this date, as you may be aware, counts from the birth of Christ, who, according to Judaism, was not a sacred figure at all. There is no such thing as New Year for Jews at the end of December.
Once again, if your business partner is a Jew, it may be not appropriate at all to congratulate him/her with Christmas/New Year.
